THE ORGAN :

The Newcastle Conservatorium Concert Hall and its organ were completed in July 1988. Though regular concerts and national broadcasts, both auditorium and organ have already won for themselves many friends amongst musicians and music lovers. The organ has two manuals and pedals and mechanical action with the following specification:

THE BUILDER

Knud Smenge was born in Denmark. He completed his apprenticeship with the famous film of Marcussen and Son. After that he worked with Bruno Christensen for 12 years as Head Voicer. He moved to Australia in 1979 and since that time has established an enviable reputation here, building instruments in Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland and Hong Kong.
