Boéllmann was a pupil of Gigout at the Niedermeyer School in Paris He
became organist at St Vincent de Paul in 1896. His Suite Gothique has
achieved great popularity. There are four contrasted movements. Whilst
this is not profound music it has great charm. The final Toccata in
particular has compelling drive and energy.
